Hand Signals

Traveling in a group requires communication. Make sure you and everyone in your group understands basic hand signals.
Stop
The snowmobile operator raises his or her left arm straight in the air. His or her palm is facing forward with fingers extended.
Slowing
The snowmobile operator extends his or her left arm straight to the left side, moving it up and down slightly. His or her palm is facing downward with fingers extended.
Left Turn
The snowmobile operator extends his or her left arm straight to the left side. His or her palm is facing downward with fingers extended.
Oncoming Sleds
The snowmobile operator extends his or her left arm diagonally up and to the left while waving his or her hand back and forth.
Last Sled in Lane
The snowmobile operator extends his or her left arm to the left, bending up at a 90-degree angle at the elbow joint. His or her hand is made into a fist.
Sleds Following
The snowmobile operator extends his or her left arm to the left, bending up at a 90-degree angle at the elbow joint. His or her thumb is pointing behind and is moving backward and forward.
Right Turn
The snowmobile operator extends his or her left arm straight to the left side, bending up at a 90-degree angle at the elbow joint. His or her palm is facing forward with fingers extended.
