Violations and Fines
Before you go out, check maps for the areas where you plan to operate your snowmobile so that you do not violate any land-use rules. Be sure to obey all land-use signs. Do not operate your snowmobile in closed or non-motorized areas. If you fail to comply, you may be fined and your equipment may be seized.
These are some examples of snowmobile violations that may result in fines:
- Operating a non-registered snowmobile
- Operating a snowmobile illegally on a Forest Service road
- Operating a snowmobile illegally in a park, conservancy, or recreation area
- Carrying a loaded firearm in your snowmobile
