Avoiding Prohibited Uses

It is illegal to operate a snowmobile:

• To pursue, harass, injure, or attempt to kill wildlife.
• While carrying a loaded firearm.
• In a negligent or reckless manner.
• In a way that damages the environment on Crown Land.
• On private property without the property owner’s consent.
• With a blood alcohol concentration of more than 0.08%, or if you are impaired by alcohol or drugs.
• In a park, conservancy, or recreation area, unless:
• A park officer authorizes it or...
• There is a sign that authorizes it in a particular area or on a trail.
• In closed areas. For maps of areas closed to snowmobiles, go to the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations website.
• On Forest Service roads, with or without insurance, if the road has been ploughed and can be used by other vehicles.
• In Strathcona Provincial Park.
• Within the Muskwa-Kechika Access Management Area, unless the snowmobile weighs less than 500 kg and is operated between November 1 and April 15.
